Terry Cuthbert

Terry Cuthbert is a High Risk Work Trainer and Assessor and our VicRoads Liaison Officer at Intrain Assessor who is responsible for training and assessing students for High Risk Work Licences and liaising with VicRoads on behalf of Intrain Assessor. Terry has worked in the Heavy Vehicle industry for most of his working career, prior to that, Terry worked at the shipping yards at Melbourne Ports. Terry has a wealth of knowledge to bring to his students.

This unit applies to those working in operational roles.

The work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work but this unit does not provide the licence. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements that may apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors, and must be sourced prior to applying this unit.

This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisted by someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and Unload Plant or equivalent.

  • 100 points of ID
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Always arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time
  • Ensure you read our booking terms & conditions
  • Be at least 18 years of age; with approved photo ID; please refer to Intrain Assessors Terms & Conditions for approved ID types.
  • All training and assessment is conducted in English and a practical level of English language comprehension, literacy, and numeracy is required. Students whose first language is not English must contact Intrain Assessor before booking a course to better assess their suitability to undertake this course. Failure to do this may result in any course fees paid being forfeited.
  • Wear appropriate clothing, including work boots, preferably steel capped.
  • Please Note: All students undertaking nationally recognised training delivered by a registered training organisation will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) in order to receive a nationally-recognised certificate or statement of attainment.
  • Go to https://www.usi.gov.au/ to obtain a USI number or authenticated transcript.

All training will be delivered and assessed between 7.00am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.

Required Knowledge Under WHS Worksafe Legislation for the Successful Completion of this Unit

  • Methodology of determining the weight of a load
  • Commonwealth, state or territory OH&S legislation, standards relevant to the safe operation for the EWP
  • Understanding of EWP characteristics and capabilities (including use of load data plates)
  • Understanding of the hierarchy of hazard identification and control
  • Organisational and workplace standards, requirements, policies and procedures for conducting operations for the EWP class
  • Procedures for the recording, reporting and maintenance of workplace records and information
  • EWP operations and safe operating techniques
  • Typical routine problems encountered in the operation of the EWP and equipment and adjustments required for correction
  • Acts and Regulations which affect how you work
  • Monitoring site conditions for potential workplace hazards
  • Hazard prevention and control measures
  • Inspection of work area to determine appropriate path of movement
  • Monitoring and maintaining EWP performance

Successful participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment in RIIHAN301E Operate Elevating Work Platform. Successful participants will also receive a card stating the classes of EWP you can operate.
